En partant de la situation très singulière de la documentation dans ce champ artistique, on propose un bilan critique (et une actualisation de la bibliographie) sur les aspects concrets de cette imitation et ses limites, à la fois dans le monde médiéval et, avec une ambition très différente, dans l’Europe de la Renaissance et au-delà. ; The article deals with the general problem of the imitation of classical models in the specific framework of western musical creation. Starting from the very peculiar situation concerning the documentation in this peculiar artistic field, the author proposes a critical balance (as well as a bibliographical update) of the concrete aspects of this imitation and its limits, at the same time in the Middle Ages and, with a very different ambition, in Renaissance Europe and beyond. |
