| Beschreibung: | Starting with the medieval canon of the six non-natural things that maintain and prolong health, this paper analyses some of the hygienic aspects (air and life in the towns, the body and bathing, noble sports, the physic exercises, moderation in diet and way of life, the passions of the soul and spiritual exercises) that were considered important during the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance. Furthermore, viewing the history of teaching as a process that spansmany centuries, the author argues that education has perpetuated, from Antiquity to the modern period, a series of commonplaces about bodily health that extol - in line with Aristotelian and Galenic tradition - the importance of a balanced, moderate life, which aligns with the virtue of temperance. It is also stated that hygiene ?in its public and private dimensions? has a history that goes back before the Enlightenment and the liberalism of the 19th century. A partir del canon medieval de las seis cosas no naturales para mantener y prolongar la salud, se analizan algunos de los aspectos higiénicos (el aire y el régimen de las ciudades, el cuerpo y el baño, los deportes caballerescos, los ejercicios físicos, la moderación en la dieta y en la manera de vivir, las pasiones del alma y los ejercicios espirituales) que dejaron sentir su influencia durante el período bajomedieval y renacentista. Además, al considerar la historia de la pedagogía como un proceso de larga duración, el autor sostiene que la educación ha mantenido, desde la época clásica y hasta la modernidad, una serie de tópicos en torno al cuidado corporal que exaltan - de acuerdo con la tradición aristotélica y galénica - la importancia de una vida equilibrada y moderada, que responde a la virtud de la templanza. Igualmente, se constata que la higiene - en su doble dimensión privada y pública - posee una trayectoria histórica anterior a la Ilustración y al liberalismo del siglo XIX. |
