Title: Die Sakralbauten in der frühmittelalterlichen Burg Libice nad Cidlinou
Author: Mařík, J. (Jan)
Description: This article is devoted to the early mediaeval churches at the hillfort in Libice nad Cidlinou. It concentrates primarily on the dating and localisation of sacral buildings on the basis of archaeological research, a structurally historical survey and newly discovered archival documents. The main focus is on two sacral buildings: the archaeologically documented church on the acropolis of the hillfort, consecrated to an unknown saint, and the former Church of the Virgin Mary in the centre of what is now the village of Libice nad Cidlinou, which has been converted into a Catholic rectory. Comparison of the ground plans of the church on the acropolis and the church in the German village of Walbeck shows that the latter was the direct model for the church built on the early mediaeval hillfort in Libice nad Cidlinou. Both buildings date back to the 10th century.
