| Description: | Une tête en marbre blanc découverte au XIXe s. à Curis-au-Mont-d’Or (Rhône) est restée confidentielle, conservée chez un particulier, en remploi dans un mur. Le don récent à la mairie a permis de réaliser une description et d’en proposer une identification. La tête casquée appartient à une statue d’Athéna / Minerve, dont les parallèles ne manquent pas. Le casque présente néanmoins des particularités qui rendent la statue originale. Malheureusement, le manque d’informations sur le contexte de découverte empêche d’en connaître la fonction (statue en lien avec un sanctuaire ? statue exposée dans une riche villa ?). Nous avons néanmoins écarté une relation avec des tombes du haut Moyen Âge découvertes avec la statue. ; Until now little has been written about a white marble head discovered in Curis-au-Mont-d’Or (Rhône) in the 19th century and then reused in a wall. Its recent donation to the local municipality has made it possible to describe it and offer an identification. The helmeted head was a part of a statue of Athena/Minerva. If parallels with other representations of the goddess are numerous, particularities of the helmet make the statue unusual. Unfortunately, lack of information about the context of the discovery means the function of the statue remains unknown (was it placed in a sanctuary ? or ornamentation in a luxurious villa?). Nevertheless, a link between the statue and the medieval tombs discovered at the same time as the statue has been rejected. ; Die Entdeckungdes Kopfes einer Statue aus weißem Marmor im 19. Jh. in Curis-au-Mont-d’Or (Departement Rhône) ist lange konfidenziell geblieben. Bis er vor kurzem der Stadt als Schenkung übereignet wurde, war er als Spolie in der Mauer eines Privathauses eingebaut. Nun war eine Beschreibung möglich und es konnte ein Vorschlag zur Identifizierung vorgelegt werden. Der behelmte Kopf gehört zu einer Statue von Athena / Minerva, für die es zahlreiche Parallelen gibt, doch der Helm weist Besonderheiten auf, welche der Statue eine gewisse Originalität verleihen. Leider fehlen Informationen zum Fundkontext, was es unmöglich macht die Funktion der Statue zu erkennen (stand sie in einem Heiligtum? in einer reichen villa ?). Eine Verbindung mit den frühmittelalterlichen Gräbern, mit denen die Statue entdeckt wurde, haben wir jedoch ausgeschlossen. |
