BeschreibungInternational audience ; The present article intends to look at Renaissance theology from the point of view of the historian of ideas. As a matter of fact, we cannot but adopt the perspective of the twentieth century whenever we deal with Renaissance theology: how far is our interpretation objective is a problem partaking not only in the nature of historical events but also in our ideological preferences. The article tries to define first of all the general conditions in which history can be deemed objective before introducing T.S. Eliot's famous interpretation of Renaissance Anglicanism. How he came to be interested in it and how he evaluated it is not extremely revealing as far as Christian thought is concerned, it also expresses some tendencies in the history of ideas, literary, philosophical, and theological, in the twentieth century.-
