| Description | Aim of the present article is to discuss some aspects of role and function of medicine in medieval encyclopaedic texts, with special reference to the compilers' choice and use of medical sources, the complex balance between scientific auctoritates and personal experience, and the place of medicine as theoretical and practical science in the contemporary scientific system. These topics are discussed with the help of four texts belonging to, or connected with, the literary genre of encyclopaedias, viz. Adelard of Bath's "Quaestiones naturales", William of Conches' "Dragmaticon", Henry Bate of Malines' "Speculum divinorum et quorundam naturalium", and Henry of Herford's "Catena aurea entium". ; V příspěvku jsou zkoumány některé aspekty role, kterou plnila medicína ve středověkých encyklopedických textech. Zvláštní pozornost věnuje autorka způsobu, kterým kompilátoři vybírali a využívali lékařské prameny a kterým dosahovali vyváženosti mezi vědeckými autoritami a vlastní zkušeností, obecněji potom postavení, které medicína zaujímala jako teoretická a praktická věda v soudobém systému vědy. Argumentace se opírá o texty, které příslušejí k žánru encyklopedií nebo s tímto literárním žánrem souvisejí, jako např. "Quaestiones naturales" Adelarda z Bathu, "Dragmaticon" Williama z Conches, "Speculum divinorum et quorundarum naturalium" Henryho Batea z Malines a "Catena aurea entium" Henryho z Herfordu. | - |
