| Description | The medieval cemetery of Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) excavated in the years 2003 till 2005 by the CNRS Luxembourg revealed a large amount of human skeletal remains. The majority of the bone material dates from the 13th to the 15th century. A minimum number of 1316 individuals could be reconstructed from the inhumation graves. The present anthropological study focuses on 371 individuals and includes topics concerning age and sex distribution, paleodemography, as well as, metrical and morphological studies. From special interest was the examination of physical activity and pathological features. The main goal of this study was the reconstruction of the living conditions of the medieval population of Grevenmacher. ; Bei archäologischen Ausgrabungen auf dem mittelalterlichen Friedhof von Grevenmacher (Luxemburg), durchgeführt in den Jahren 2003 bis 2005, wurde eine große Anzahl von menschlichen Überresten zutage gefördert. Der Großteil der freigelegten Gräber stammt dabei aus dem Zeitraum zwischen dem 13. bis zum Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts. Im Rahmen der Dissertation wurde eine umfassende anthropologische Auswertung der menschlichen Skelettreste durchgeführt. Ziel der Arbeit war dabei die Rekonstruktion der Lebensbedingungen der mittelalterlichen ländlichen Bevölkerung von Grevenmacher. Besondere Berücksichtigung fanden dabei Fragen zum Nachweis von physischer Aktivität am Skelettmaterial sowie die Auswertung paläopathologischer Befunde. | - |
