; The thesis presents ceramic findings from the 14th to the 16th century from six different places in Upper Franconia, a region in northern Bavaria. The findings have been excavated in the urban settlements of Bamberg, Coburg, Forchheim, Schesslitz, and Strullendorf. The ceramic belongs to the articles of daily use, to the mostly undecorated pots and storage vessels. They were produced and traded in the region. The unglazed ceramic has been fired in oxidizing atmosphere. An important source for investigating the material culture of the late middle ages are the kilns, constructed as cross-draught kilns with two successively arranged chambers for firing and burning. They allow insights into the processes of ceramic production and the spectrum of its forms.-
