| Description | La discussione del volume di Évelyne Patlagean è imperniata soprattutto sul confronto con il pensiero di Marc Bloch. Assai sensibile alle prospettive comparatistiche, con la sua Société féodale lo storico alsaziano propose un modello interpretativo suscettibile di esser applicato anche al mondo bizantino, ma contemporaneamente rimosse il “medioevo greco” e quello slavo dal suo orizzonte di ricerca. La Patlagean adotta le categorie storiografiche blochiane, sostenendo tuttavia che il potenziale sviluppo feudale del mondo bizantino fu bloccato dal peso della tradizione imperiale antica. ; The discussion on Évelyne Patlagean’s volume centres on a comparison with the ideas forwarded by Marc Bloch. Particularly conscious of comparative perspectives, in his Société féodale the Alsatian historian proposed an interpretative model liable to be applied also to the Byzantine world, even though he removed the “Greek” and slavic middle ages from his research prospects. Patlagean adopts Bloch’s historiographic categories, whilst sustaining that the potential feudal development of the Byzantine world was blocked by the weight exercised by the ancient imperial tradition. | - |
